Although our hiring process can sometimes vary depending on the type of role you're interviewing for, in general, we follow the below steps.

There are different types of interviews that you may go through during the process (depending on the role type). More information on these can be found below.

Outcome

After your interviews have concluded, the team will make a decision which will be communicated to you. If all goes well, an offer will be made for you to join the team! If now is the not the right time, we hope there will be an opportuntiy for you to join us in future!

types of interviews

Hiring manager interviews are a chance to meet with the hiring manager one-on-one. Expect to speak about your knowledge, skills, and experience during this step in the process. This interview is also an opportunity for you to ask critical questions about the role and learn more about the team. 

Some interview schedules might include panel interviews. Our panel interviews consist of two or more interviewers. Panels members will consist of a mix of people you may directly or indirectly work with, and will likely include the manager of the position and other team members. They are a great opportunity to learn more about Activision Blizzard from multiple perspectives. Ahead of your interview, your recruiter will let you know who you will be meeting. 

Certain roles will include a Technical Assessment component. Our goal at Activision Blizzard is to hire the best employees to develop our games. Our engineering team strives for bug-free code that will last through game changes, and our art team strives for excellent graphics. During the technical interview, you should expect to show off your technical expertise. Please speak with your recruiter to receive more details on the format of the technical evaluation.

Be Detailed and be yourself

We want to get to know you and what you've achieved in your career to date. We recommend using the STAR method to answer interview questions. The STAR method explains the situations you have faced, tasks you’ve accomplished, actions you’ve taken and the results of your actions. Making us aware of these four details will ensure a complete picture of your contributions to a project or initiative.

Pro Tip: Use this as an opportunity to show your unique abilities and qualifications that make you stand out as a candidate.

Show your contribution

Although collaboration is important, we want to hear about the specific contributions you have made at work. Focus on sharing your particular contributions to a project or role.

Pro Tip: Provide examples of your work that are relevant for the role. For example, if you have an art portfolio, share the work that is most relevant to the role and specific style of art, not your 30 best pieces. Remember to also use data whenever possible to articulate the impact you had.

Be Curious

Interviewing is a two way process so it’s important that you leave each interview having had your questions answered. We want you to fully understand the organization, the position you’re applying for and the team you’ll be working with. 

Pro Tip: Prepare your questions prior to the interview and if they are only partially answered during the interview, don’t be afraid to ask for the interviewer to clarify or share more information.

Video Ready

The majority of our interviews are held virtually and we leverage Zoom for our online meetings. We'd recommend creating a Zoom account and downloading the program prior to your interview. Set yourself up in a quiet, well-lit area and check your audio before joining. With that being said, we know working at home can have distractions so please do not worry if your children or pets can be heard in the background, we know sometimes it can't be avoided! 

Pro Tip: If possible, have a neutral or blurred background to avoid disruptions during the interview. Something as simple as a fan spinning above your head can cause distraction.
